Today we woke up late. God bless that fresh mountain air - Tucker slept like a stone the entire time we were there (he STILL wakes up EVERY night at home and crawls into bed with us) AND he slept past 8:00 every morning. Anyway, we decided to skip today's hike and just pack up camp and head out by noon.
Well... we finished packing up around 10:30 and circled 'round the campground to get Bekkah from her new BFF's site (they met Thursday, lol, got to love kids). After a photo shoot to commemorate their friendship we (FINALLY) headed off in search of someplace that was still serving breakfast.
After eating like II hadn't been fed in days, we made a quick stop at the LL Bean outlet - when did shopping cease to be all about me? We spent $85, all of it on Bekkah. A new backpack and matching lunch bag for second grade, a mess kit for Girl Scout Camp this week, a hooded long sleeved shirt (because she looks so darn cute in those) and a travel hangman game (because she has Daddy wrapped around her little finger).
Then it was on to the one lane, traffic light riddled, only-way-out-of-town "highway" along with the million or so other tourists leaving Dodge on a Sunday afternoon. (Note to self: Next time, stay 'till Monday.) The normally 4-hour drive took us six. Luckily for us, the Tewksbury police provided some entertainment at our one and only pit stop.
That would be the search portion of the undercover drug bust we got to watch. The kids were blissfully ignorant of all this having been allowed to access the Internet and watch Netflix on our cell phones for the first time in five days. Six hour car ride and not one "Are we there yet?" I <3 technology.
